Coming home

I have been driven many times to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had absolutely no other place to go. -- Abraham Lincoln

People get lost, we are human; imperfect beings. God knows, and He understands. Ever so often, we lose sight of God, we turn away from Him. We feel so far away from God that we wonder if we'll ever find our way back. But the truth is, God never lost sight of us. He keeps tugging at our hearts, urging us to come back.

Coming back to God isn't difficult. All we have to do is to take a step toward Him. Just one step! And all of a sudden, we find God. All we have to do is to take a few moments of our life, tell God how we feel, how we want to come back to Him. And in those moments, we encounter the Creator of the universe, we find God.

The moment we slide back to God, we begin to feel different. We feel a sense of confidence, peace and joy. We feel alive! As such, it is always important to remain connected to the true and living God, to be in close relationship with Him.

Staying connected to God is not difficult either. All we have to do is to spend time with God. God longs to spend time with us! Amazing things start happening when we start spending time with God in prayer. As John Mason puts it, ' Prayer brings momentum. It lifts the heart above the challenges of life and gives it a view of God's resources of victory and hope.' Prayer provides power, poise, peace and purpose for our purpose, plans and pursuits. It also allows direction, peace, love, insight and forgiveness to burst forth into our lives. Prayer is relating to God, communicating with Him. It is only through communion with God that we can stay connected to God! We cannot love someone we do not know. Therefore, the only way to truly love God, is to truly know God. And to know God, we need to have a relationship with Him, to be in communion with Him, which then enables us to truly love God, and thus, stay connected to Him!

You may pray for an hour and still not pray. You may meet God for a moment and then be in touch with Him all day. --Fredrik Wisloff

When we spend time with God, it is essential that we have an encounter with God. And sometimes, it requires us to wait on Him. As Charles Spugeon taught, " Sometimes we think we are too busy to pray. That is a great mistake, for praying is a savings of time." Adding on, here are some words of 2 great men of God.

I have so much to do that I shall spend the first three hours in prayer. -- Martin Luther

I have so much to do that I spend several hours in prayer before I am able to do it. -- John Wesley

As such, let us always remember that prayer time is never wasted time!

God is never more than a prayer away from you. When you feel swept off your feet, get back to your knees.
